Powerade Duathlon Series 2012 LEG 3 Review

Here’s a recap on the POWERADE PHILIPPINE DUATHLON SERIES 2012 LEG 3.
August 19, 2012. Everyone in the bike and run sporting event community was excited to attend the Powerade Duathlon Championship Leg 3. I was lucky enough to be invited by some members of team TriMac to cover the event as it was held in Georgia Club, Sta Elena City, Sta. Rosa Laguna, in a very beautiful under-development private luxury subdivision in the city limits of Laguna.

The event organizers where very pleased to see familiar faces from Bikers, Runners, Triathlon enthusiasts, newbies and experienced athletes from all walks of life. Over 500 participants joined the event from men, women 16 to 40 years and older as well as some celebrities such as TV5 news anchor man Yvan Mayrina, and Mateo Guidicelli.

The Race Starts at 6 am, so true enough everyone was there early. It rained for an hour before sunrise broke out but gladly stopped before 6 am, which made the track medium damp, a bit slippery with occasional drizzling but that doesn’t stop our duathlon athletes to finish the race safely.

I got to the chance to interview a couple of TriMac Members Such as TriMac Coach Jojo Macalintal and Mr. Julius Sin among few of the race’s participants. FYI Coach Jojo Macalintal has been a Triathlon Coach and Triathlete himself for over 10 years now who wins top over-all awards in Triathlon events in his age bracket. Mr Julius sin is a dedicated father, and a respected business man in the auto - service center industry now also a turned Triathlon enthusiast with the help of coach Macalintal’s Training.

Julius Sin just recently won 1st overall winner in the Subic International Sprint Triathlon in his age group 40 – 44 last May 5, 2012 among other events which he recently participated. His Triathlon side-kick assistant and son Josh Sin the cute kid in the yellow TriMac T-shirt is also training and participating Running events, Bike challenges, Duathlons, Aquathlons and soon - Triathlons also under Coach Jojo Macalintal's training.

Aside from enjoying the race, we had a great time eating after the event, to my surprise I loved the caterer's BBQ it's so flavorful and tasty!. the event offered free food and drinks to participants, and a cool place to get an opportunity for participants from all walks of life to meet and get to know each other.

A new event was announced at the Powerade Duathlon Challenge which is the Rudy Project Give it a Tri Triathlon Challenge. The event has a P3,000 registration fee and all participants who will finish the challenge will get a free Rudy Project Sports Sunglass that is a limited edition model which is so awesomely exciting!

It’s Rudy Project’s way of PR, let you try their awesome product, wear it to show it off, talk about it, and in a Corporate Social Responsibility’s way of the company to say thank you for the increasing number of Runners, Bikers and other sports enthusiasts who are using their products.
